Rick Carlisle

Like Doc Rivers, Rick Carlisle managed to win the Coach of the Year award during his first year with the Detroit Pistons. Due to his team management issues a year later, he was fired. In 2004, he managed to lead the Indiana Pacers to the best record in the league and established the best defensive team in the process. In 2008, Carlisle joined the Dallas Mavericks as the head coach and took the team to their first championship in 2011. He can make the team win yet another championship in the next two years if his team can stay healthy and intact.

Mike Brown

To be the best, you have to train the best. This is precisely where Brown had a significant advantage when compared to other coaches as he had the opportunity to work for the Spurs as an assistant coach while getting mentored by none other than Gregg Popovich. After he was an Indiana Pacers assistant coach, Mike Brown became the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach in 2005. The Cardinals will be hiring Kliff Kingsbury as their next coach, who was previously the technical coach for the Houston Texans. Kingsbury, who is currently 39 years old. He will be replacing Steve Wilks, who was fired on 31 December after only one season in Arizona where he only managed to achieve a 3-13 record. On 25 November, Kliff Kingsbury was fired by the Houston Texans as technical coach after seven seasons, including six seasons as head coach.

The Packers are going to hire Matt LaFleur as the next coach for the team. LaFleur was the offensive coordinator for the Titans during the last season and previously worked for the Rams under Season McVay and the Falcons under Kyle Shanahan. Super Bowl 53: Three key take-outs for the coaches

The culmination of the NFL season was a history-making affair, with New England Patriots’ 13-3 victory over Los Angeles Rams the fewest number of points scored in a title game during the Super Bowl era.

The Patriots were favourites in the Super Bowl odds for the game and never looked in any danger of losing. They led 3-0 at half-time, then scored the game-winning touchdown with seven minutes remaining.

The Rams weren’t able to get their prolific offense rolling and didn’t run a single play inside New England’s 26-yard line.

McVay’s Plan ‘A’ exposed

The Rams’ offense had been superb all season, scoring the second-most points and gaining the second-most yards in the run-up to the Super Bowl.

The Rams were humiliated statistically, gaining just 260 yards, recording 14 first downs and punting nine times.

Belichick’s decision to switch his system ensured that the game would be a tactical, low scoring-affair, and it worked a treat.

Playing a more open system would no doubt have led to more points in the game, but the Patriots won by following Belichick’s plan to the letter. It was a coaching masterclass.

Gurley’s diminished role was baffling

Todd Gurley had been a key part of the Rams’ offensive during the season, yet McVay barely used him against the Patriots.

Suspicions of a lingering knee problem were ruled out by McVay post-match, making it an even bigger mystery as to why Gurley was utilised so sparingly.

Gurley managed just 35 yards on 10 carries – a bafflingly low return for a player who had performed so well for the majority of the campaign.

McVay’s inability to get Gurley performing on the biggest stage was a crucial factor in the Rams putting just three points on the board.

Mentoring and Coaching Processes

Management and individual development can occur in several forms, some delivered by external and internal mentors or coaches and some by managers. The different activities are defined as follows:

Guiding – The process of directing a group or individual along a path that leads them from a present state to a more desired state.

Coaching – Assisting another individual to improve awareness, setting and achieving goals to develop a specific behavioural performance.

Teaching – Assisting a group or individual to develop cognitive capabilities and skills.

Mentoring – Assisting to shape an individual’s values and beliefs positively, usually a career relationship over the long term for someone who has done it in the past.

Difference between Coaching and Counseling

Coaching is narrower focused, while counselling is in greater depth and broader focused. With coaching, the primary goal is to improve the performance of an individual at work, while counselling is to assist people in understanding the root of their issues or performance at work. Coaching is a short-term intervention, while advice is also considered a short response but can last for long due to the nature of issues that need to be addressed. With coaching, the agenda will be set by an individual, while counselling allows the schedule to be set by both counselor and the individual.

Neuro-linguistic Programming

Practitioners of neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP, claims that eye movements can reveal thoughts. For instance, when an athlete looks up to the right or left, they will try and visualise something. However, when an athlete is looking down to the right, they think about feelings. Sports coaches that use this information to identify what a person is thinking about and then assist them to change their thoughts.

Brain Gym

This essentially includes a series of simplistic movements, including touching your right heel with your left hand and then your left heel with your right hand, or placing an index finger and thumb on either side of the chest bone while your other hand will rub your stomach. The primary objective of these simplistic movements is to make more efficient movements and to improve overall coordination. It also helps to increase focus, concentration, and motivation.
